The production of the Toyota FJ Cruiser SUV started at the Hino Motors plant in Japan in 2006. The car was designed in retro style based on the 1960 Land Cruiser FJ40 model.
The first and main market for the car was North America, but later sales began in Mexico, Australia, South Africa, Japan, China, the Middle East. In Russia, the Toyota FJ Cruiser has never been officially sold.
The SUV, created on the Land Cruiser Prado platform, had a frame structure, independent suspension on all wheels, 24-cm ground clearance and good geometric cross-country ability.
